Our Special Projects

In addition to our regular programs, GOT YOUR BACK SISTA also gets involved in special projects which will substantially improve and support the lives of many women escaping Domestic Violence. Our aim is to help vulnerable women begin again.

In our projects, we value measurable impact and sustainability for those women in need.

Some of the projects that GOT YOUR BACK SISTA is currently running or has previously supported are described in the following:

Project 4: GYBS & Brave Cosmetics Lippy Fundraiser 2018

Got Your Back Sista has teamed together with Brave Cosmetics to put together a beautiful range of lip products as our latest fundraising project.

With the generosity of Brave Cosmetics, $15 from each product sold will be donated to Got Your Back Sista to help women and children begin again after escaping domestic violence.

Launched in September 2018, the range is made up of three fabulous spring colours with a creamy lipstick, lip liner and lip gloss in each colour. Each product is only $30 or $80 for a bundle of three!

Whether you prefer Rockstar Red, Power Pink or Nailed It Naturally, there is a colour for everyone!

All products are 100% natural, non-toxic and Australian made.

Project 3: Maitland Shelter August 2018

Here are our wonderful volunteers who gave their time to help us at Got Your Back Sista put together a 5 bedroom women’s shelter in the Maitland area! Thanks also to all the wonderful people and businesses who donated furniture, linen, TVs, bar fridges, books, toys and more to make this shelter into a lovely place to stay for some of the most vulnerable women and children in our community!

It really does take a Village to care for others in our community and we are so grateful to our GYBS community. Now the shelter is set-up and ready to house people, the wonderful organisation Carrie’s Place Domestic Violence and Homelessness Services Inc. will manage the running of the house.

Project 2: Respectus Shelter 2017

The aim of this project was to end homelessness of women and children escaping Domestic Violence in our region. Our objective was to convert an old property into a 10 bedroom crisis home in the Newcastle area.

Our charity is so proud to have such a wonderful team of volunteers who have come together on Saturday mornings to work on our project.

Project 1: Hunter Valley Crisis Accommodation August 2016

Our great team of volunteers helped us to set up a new house in the Hunter Valley using furniture and lovely new household items collected from our beautiful donors, supporters and partners.
